ICT and consumer electronics (CE) retailer E-City has opened a new store in the UAE. The new store opened in Dubai Mall is the brand’s fourth store in Emirates. It is also the first of seven planned E-City store openings in 2012 and 2013. The retailer is targeting to emerge as a leading brand in the Middle East’s organised retail electronics market, in the next five years. It is hoping to leverage the increasing demand for electronic gadgets such as notebooks, tablet PCs, smartphones, cameras and gaming. It plans to focus on small stores with high footfall as part of its expansion strategy. E-City, a part of the Sharjah-based Al Batha Retail & Home Products Group was established in 2008. It is the region’s first technology convenience retail chain which provides a unique shopping and service experience as well as online shopping to its customers.
