Al Meera Holdings based in Qatar and the UK's WH Smith Travel Ltd have signed a franchise deal. Under the agreement, Al Meera Holding has exclusive rights to establish and operate bookstores under the WH Smith brand in Qatar. Founded in 1792, WH Smith is based out of Wiltshire, England. The retailer is made up of two core businesses - Travel and High Street. The travel business operates 561 units, mainly in airports, railway stations, motorway service areas, hospitals and workplaces, primarily in the UK. The company also deals in products like books, stationery, magazines, newspapers, and entertainment.
