The Dubai-based ride hailing app, Careem has announced introducing an electric car type onto the fleet.

The company said in a statement that the fleet will be made of turquoise, Model S Tesla cars and the fares will be priced as Careem Business rates, with a starting baseline fare of AED60.
ION is a newly launched joint venture between Crescent Enterprise and Bee'ah, the environmental management company.
Careem said there aim is to accelerate the fulfillment of a zero-emission transport system in the UAE, and over a wider region, by using a more sustainable approach to commercial transportation.
The general manager of Careem in the UAE, Clemence Dutertre said, “Bringing customers the choice to book a more environmentally friendly option is something we feel very strongly about. Careem Electric also offers a top of the range, safe and fun car which works both as a luxury option whilst also being perfect for family and group outings. We think our customers are going to get very excited about this new option on the app.”
